No two trips are the same which is why Freely now offers three flexible plans as part of its brand-new travel insurance line-up. Whether you're planning a quick city break or a once-in-a-lifetime adventure, there's a plan designed for it. The question is: which one?
Here's a simple breakdown of the Freely’s three new overseas plans, what they have in common and where they differ.
Before getting into the differences, here's what you get across all three plans:
Overseas Essentials is Freely's entry-level plan. It covers the things that matter most like overseas emergency medical, trip cancellation, luggage and 24/7 emergency assistance - without features you may not need.
Some things aren’t included though, like rental vehicle insurance excess, resumption of journey and special events and cancellation cover starts at $3,000.
Overseas Explorer is Freely's mid-tier comprehensive plan and sits between Overseas Essentials and Overseas Explorer Pro. It includes unlimited overseas medical expenses, evacuation and repatriation as well as higher cancellation cover starting at $5,000, luggage up to $10,000, and includes rental vehicle insurance excess up to $5,000.
Overseas Explorer Pro is Freely's most comprehensive plan, with higher benefit limits across the board. This plan includes overseas medical expenses cover, evacuation and repatriation as well as cancellation cover starting at $10,000, increased luggage cover up to $15,000, with higher individual item limits forvaluables like smartphones and cameras and raises the rental vehicle insurance excess up to $10,000.

Trip Extras are cover add-ons that can be added to vary your plan. Decided to ski for the day? Hopping on a last-minute cruise? Embrace travel spontaneity and toggle on additional activity coverage for your trip or just the days you need it.
You can also pay an additional premium to increase your cancellation cover and your luggage limits for valuable items.
There's no single right answer - it comes down to your destination, what you've got pre-booked and what cover matters most to you.
Whatever you choose - compare the benefit limits, make sure you read the PDS, pick the cover that matches your trip and add the Trip Extras that fit your plans. Give us a call if you’re unsure and our friendly team can help.
The excess is the first portion of a claim that Freely will not pay. It’s deducted from your claim, if it’s approved. It applies per event - so if one incident gives rise to multiple claim types, the excess is deducted only once. You can choose your excess amount and this will be shown on your Certificate of Insurance. Refer to the PDS for full policy conditions and to see which benefits the excess applies to.
Among other things, we don’t cover claims related to government travel bans, “Do not travel” warnings, activities excluded under the policy, or incidents that occur while you’re drunk or intoxicated. Refer to the PDS for full details, limits and exclusions.
Freely travel insurance is underwritten byZurich Australian Insurance Limited (ZAIL, ABN 13 000 296 640, AFSL 232507).
Yes - you can add Trip Extras such as SnowSports, Cruise, or Adventure Activities to your plan after purchase, including during your trip. To move to a higher plan tier, cancel your existing policy and purchase a new one.
