What's covered?
We've simplified travel insurance with our bundled Explorer Plan that you can build upon with extra coverage. This way, you only pay for the coverage you need on the days you actually need it.
Canada is a picture-perfect holiday destination with cosmopolitan cities, dazzling mountain scenery and lakes so blue you’ll swear the bottom must be painted! All that fresh air means it’s also home to a thriving population of grizzly bears, which is one of many good reasons to consider getting travel insurance. We can help with that.

We've simplified travel insurance with our bundled Explorer Plan that you can build upon with extra coverage. This way, you only pay for the coverage you need on the days you actually need it.

We provide a benefit that includes coverage for overseas medical and hospital expenses. And, if things go really wrong, we can help with emergency repatriation or evacuation to bring you home. Coverage for these costs are subject to claim approval.
Only applies to Overseas Explorer Plan.

If you need to amend, delay or cancel your trip, we can help smooth out bumps in your travel plans. You can even increase your cancellation coverage in increments of $1,000 by paying additional premiums.

We offer benefits that can provide coverage to help fund the replacement or reimbursement of delayed, lost, stolen or damaged luggage. You can also increase the single-item limit for portable electronic gadgets, and ramp up your coverage for other specified items you won't travel without.
Build on your Explorer Plan by adding Trip Extras to get greater protection for your personal belongings, and enhanced delay and cancellation coverage. You can also add Daily Boosts on-the-go to get cover for activities, from motorbike riding to adventure sports.

You need to add our Snow Sports Boost at an additional cost to the base policy for all the days you're on the snow in order to be covered. (Our Explorer Plan alone does not automatically cover snow sports.)
Our Snow Sports Boost provides cover for downhill skiing, cross-country skiing and snowboarding – as well as snowmobiling. If you’re planning on going off-piste, we’ll still offer coverage, but only if you're not going against any warnings or local advice. Also be aware that our Snow Sports Boost is not for those who are participating in a professional capacity or racing.
For more details, be sure to read the PDS.
If your luggage gets lost by or is stuck with a transport provider (like an airline or shuttle bus company) for more than 12 hours while you’re on your trip, Freely will reimburse you for certain things – such as underwear, non-prescription medicine and shoes. We’ll cover you for up to $300 for each item, with a maximum of $900. Hold onto your receipts and get some proof from the travel provider showing what happened to your luggage, as you’ll need these documents to support your claim.
Yes, but only when you add our Rental Vehicle Insurance Excess Boost to your Explorer Plan (at an additional cost) for all the days you hire a vehicle. When added to your policy, this Boost offers some protection when you’re driving overseas by covering the insurance excess or the repair costs (whichever is lower) if the rental vehicle is damaged (conditions apply).
Our Rental Vehicle Insurance Excess Boost can be used on both rental cars and campervans – the vehicle just needs to be under 6 tonnes.
You can add our Rental Vehicle Insurance Excess Boost to your Explorer Plan before you head off – or even while you’re away, using the Freely app.
We may provide cover for trekking, but your eligibility for cover depends on the height you are above sea level.
Less than 4,000m above sea level: If you’re trekking at less than 4,000m above sea level, our Overseas Explorer Plan automatically provides cover for this activity.
4,000–6,000m above sea level: If you’re trekking at 4,000–6,000m above sea level for more than two days, you would need to add our Adventure Activities Boost to your policy at an additional cost for all the days you’re trekking in order to be covered (as long as you're not trekking in a professional capacity or using oxygen or specialist equipment).
