We offer coverage for those times when your trip gets interrupted outside of your control, such as common carrier cancellations or because of certain unforeseen events that we cover.

We offer coverage for when your baggage is stolen, damaged or delayed and you have to purchase additional clothing and personal items.
Our Essentials Plan offers coverage for medical and dental emergencies, evacuation and repatriation, and accidental death and disability – as well as your belongings and the cost of your trip if it gets interrupted.
Then, if you need additional coverage for things like cancellation, trip inconvenience, snow or adventure activities, simply customize your Essential Plan by adding our Trip Extras.

Build on your Explorer Plan by adding Trip Extras to get greater protection for your personal belongings, and enhanced delay and cancellation coverage. You can also add Daily Boosts on-the-go to get cover for activities, from motorbike riding to adventure sports.

Regardless of which provider you choose, the majority of travel insurance policies do not automatically cover snow sports.
Freely is no exception: our Essentials Plan alone does not cover snow skiing or snowboarding – as these high-risk activities attract a higher premium.
If you plan on doing snow activities on your next overseas holiday, it’s a good idea to consider taking out travel insurance with specific snow sports coverage (such as our Snow Activities Boost) on top of your base policy to make sure you have coverage when you’re on the mountain.
Not doing so can be risky and could leave you having to foot a hefty medical bill if you get injured.
You can add our Snow Activities Boost to your Essentials Plan before your trip or in real-time while you’re away. Simply use the Freely app to add it to your policy and pay for the days you need it.
Be sure to read your state’s Travel Insurance Policy Document for all terms and conditions that apply to our coverage.
When you’re travelling with your family, you’re responsible for the health and wellbeing of more than just yourself – not to mention, travelling with a lot more variables!
This is why it’s a good idea to consider travel insurance, which the Australian Government Smartraveller website considers “as important as a passport” if you’re heading overseas.
Travel insurance can help when a family member gets sicks or injured overseas, if your flight is delayed or if someone loses their passport (sigh, we’ve been there). In particular, families with young children may find that having travel insurance with medical and emergency cover as a benefit offers some assurance in case something goes wrong.
Freely’s Overseas Explorer Plan includes as a benefit medical and emergency dental (cover will not exceed 12 months from the onset of the illness or condition), overseas repatriation and evacuation, as well as safety alerts and 24-hour access to medical and emergency assistance via the Freely app.
Families travelling with children might also enjoy Freely’s 24-hour telehealth access with e-script capability in over 70 countries and across dozens of language.

The top benefits of having domestic travel insurance with Freely are receiving coverage for cancellations and amendments – like with regards to accommodation or tours, or even pre-paid festivals and big events such as weddings; along with lost, damaged or stolen luggage and flight inconvenience – which includes things like expenses racked up due to delays.
When working out whether to get domestic travel insurance for your group trip, the best thing to do is weigh up the options, i.e. is the price of travel insurance worth the possible cost of cancellations and amendments for all of you? It's also important to remember that COVID-19 is sadly still a thing, and though we might not have to isolate anymore, people are still getting sick. Many of Freely’s claims are still related to COVID-19, and coverage for it while you’re travelling domestically certainly isn’t obsolete if you’re worried about interruptions to your trip due to anyone in your group's health.
Accidents happen, but accessing medical support overseas as a traveller can be difficult and expensive. From a dog bite in Sri Lanka to a reef cut in Fiji, doctor and hospital fees can be very high, especially if you don’t have medical coverage.
This is where travel insurance can come in handy. In fact, according to Australian government website Smartraveller, travel insurance is “as important as a passport” if you’re heading overseas.
For travellers who have purchased our Overseas Explorer Plan and who become sick or injured while on their trip, we may provide cover for unexpected medical and hospital expenses (cover will not exceed 12 months from onset of illness or condition).
Travelling with Freely also gives you 24-hour access to our team of medical and emergency specialists, as well as live chat with the Freely support team from 7am–7pm AEST/AEDT every day.
